Captives by Tom Pow

The point of view shift in this book was disturbing, but I can see why it was necessary, as was the need to tell the story as a flashback. A group of vacationing families is abducted on a never-named island. The reason is rather thin, but that's not the focus of the plot. Again, the relationship between the daughter and her abductor was more like a teen movie than reality, but the abducters were probably nicer than most abducters would be. This is really a book for 6th graders or so. (The English Journal does not identify the age of the intended audience, but they do write plot summaries that hook you into wanting to read the books. This one is a case in point.)
