Heist Society by Ally Carter

My daughter said she really liked this author, but this is the only book of hers that I've read and I wouldn't have read this one if it wasn't on the Teen Reads list. It will probably be the last one by this author that I read, however. The premise of the story is good and the blurb on the book jacket is interesting: a teen belongs to a family that are scam artists and thieves, but in a likable way. However, the story wobbles all over the globe (in warp time speed), with the central protagonist posed as the only person who can solve a really bad theft job and protect her dad from the really evil bad guys. If that wasn't bad enough, the author gives the girl a boyfriend (who isn't really a boyfriend, but just a really good boy friend) who is fabulously wealthy and can finance anything her heart desires. The book is filled with characters who are not well developed, and Hale's money serves as the closest thing to a deus ex machina that I have ever read. Good book for very young teens or a quick hour's worth of reading.
