The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

The narrator of this book is a 9th grade Native American Indian who decides to attend high school off the reservation. He is ostracized by the Indians and not accepted by the whites at his new school. The story is how he resolves the differences and learns to fit in both worlds. He presents a lot of negative issues surrounding his tribe: he repeatedly emphasizes that there are a lot of alcoholic men in the tribe. He is also a bit free in his description of the sexual thoughts that occupy a ninth grade boy's mind; I really didn't think these added anything to the plot. After reading The Schwa and Shift, I found this narrator's voice a bit less enjoyable. His teenaged angst just didn't seem to be as accessible to me as a adult. Since all three books have male narrators, I would like to know what a boy thinks about the book(s).
